Voices Rising from Darkness: Only Kindness Makes Sense Anymore (Boulder)

2018-06-09 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A Benefit Offering:  An Evening of Poetry, Photography, Story, and Music

with Molly Traffas, Angela Atkinson, Jade Sherer, and Chris Rowinski

Dizzied by the overwhelming suffering, chaos, displacement in our world, we join together with image, story, poem, and ceremony to give voice to the pain of the refugee and to the angst we carry wondering what we can do.  We come with the great hope to raise funds for global refugees.  All proceeds from this concert will be given to global refugee aid efforts.  Free will offering.

Molly Traffas, Poet. Molly offers a concert of the voices of poets giving language and voice to those without refuge, those torn from their homes, cast out, waiting, and to we who witness, torn open without solution, with the ache of empty hands.   Through the power of poetry, Molly weaves a place for our hearts to land.  A place that contains both the beauty and the anguish, the universal and the specific, the dilemma of being a distant witness and an empowered seed bearer.

Angela Atkinson, Photographer and Writer. Angela is dedicated to giving voice to those who have been silenced and marginalized in our world through telling their stories.  Common to the experience of all human beings is suffering, and it is in this place where compassion, empathy, and activism can be found.  She has spent time as a volunteer in the refugee camps in Greece and will be sharing her photography, film and stories through her own unique lens.

Jade Sherer, Ceremonialist, Soul Guide.  Jade holds ceremony as one of the largest conversations we can have with something greater than us. She relies on ceremony to provide a container to hold us in our biggest challenges and deepest questions, as well as in our most joyous celebrations. Jade has devoted her life to listening deeply to the nature of things and to tracking the hidden languages that exist between worlds that are always offering guidance to listening ears.

Chris Rowinski, Musician. Chris is a guitarist who has been playing since childhood.  He has delved deeply into many styles, and he has played professionally for years.  Music is an integral part of Chris’ life, and he cherishes the deep connection that is created when playing with others.
